ABORIGINAL ART MURALS  

Djalgala creates vibrant, culturally rich murals tailored to reflect your school’s identity and connection to Country.

The Mural Creation Process: 

  • Students actively participate in shaping the mural’s design through: 

    • Exploring the local Aboriginal area, including language groups, landmarks, and cultural practices. 

    • Incorporating school values, motifs, and colour themes. 

    • Learning about Aboriginal art styles and symbols. 

  • Students contribute ideas, and Djalgala finalises the artwork, ensuring alignment with the collective vision. Schools receive a digital preview for approval before the mural is created.

  • A detailed narrative accompanies the mural, explaining its cultural and artistic significance.

  • Celebrate your mural’s completion with a school assembly featuring an ochre paint-up, a Sweeping Ceremony, and the sharing of the mural's story to highlight its cultural significance. 

  • Schools can request restricted authority for the mural artwork, allowing its use in:

Ceremonies are integral to Aboriginal spiritual and cultural traditions, connecting communities to Country and heritage.

The Sweeping Ceremony, a cleansing ritual, purifies individuals and spaces, fostering a sense of renewal and respect. At Djalgala, we offer this significant ceremony for school and community events to honour and strengthen the cultural connection.

Teacher Professional Development
